Tree Removal Discussion for Sidewalks on North & South Roads ~ Thursday, Feb. 25 at 11 am ~ BARC Zoom Meeting Builds Trust

February 22, 2021

Bedford’s DPW is working on the next phase of the North Road sidewalk project, beginning with the North Road-Chelmsford intersection (the “Renzo intersection”).

Using their sketches, the DPW will discuss details of the plan with a focus on trees and tree removal at the remote/zoom BARC meeting this Thursday, February 25, beginning at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend and ask questions. The zoom link can be found on the BARC agenda to be posted on the town website.

Next will be a follow-up discussion of the mostly-completed design for the South Road sidewalk. Using DPW-generated sketches, BARC members did pandemic-distanced site visits. The consensus was that the design was developed with environmental sensitivity and tree preservation in mind. Still, there will be a loss of many mature trees. At the last meeting, a few questions were raised that may receive answers by this meeting.
