Catherine Cordes confirmed this week that she plans to serve as moderator for Bedford’s 2021 annual town meeting.

Cordes, whose three-year term expires in March 2022, had been planning to resign and move with her husband Ron to Pennsylvania to be closer to their grandchildren. Those plans are still on the horizon, but now the horizon has moved back beyond the town meeting, scheduled for May 15.

Cathy Cordes was first elected in 2016, succeeding Betsey Anderson, who has subsequently been chosen by town meetings as deputy moderator, a new protocol.

Ron Cordes has said publicly that he will not be a candidate for re-election to the Board of Assessors in March.
