Crazy Proud of Bedford Today

Patrol Officers Sheldon Maloney (l) and Jared Weisenborn (r) ‘took a knee’ in the middle of The Great Road during Wednesday afternoon’s gathering to honor George Floyd and Black Lives Matter

Several hundred young people, family groups, clergy, town dignitaries, and a diverse K-Nine corps gathered along The Great Road in front of Bedford Common this afternoon. The demonstration marked concern for George Floyd’s death, the Black Lives Matters movement, social justice, and a sense of civic engagement.

There will be a lot more pictures and a story about this afternoon’s demonstration, but before the evening gets any later, please understand that two Bedford police officers brought tears to more than one participant’s eyes.

Driving up The Great Road, two cruisers sounded their sirens and flashed blue lights as they drew in front of Bedford Common. With the cars stopping traffic, patrol officers Sheldon Maloney and Jared Weisenborn got out and ‘took a knee’ in the middle of The Great Road.

Huzzahs to two of Bedford’s finest!
