Letter to the Editor: Coronavirus Testing~Tuesdays on Bedford Common

May 2, 2020

Submitted by Rev. John Gibbons

I appreciate the coverage of Covid19 testing, a collaboration of the Bedford Research Foundation and First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Bedford Common, in The Bedford Citizen.

We want to make this testing more widely known.  The testing is open to everyone, regardless of town of residence, symptomology, affiliation, or ability to pay.

First Parish is providing a prominent and central location, volunteers, and our communication network to promote universal testing.

Last Tuesday, April 28, due to variable weather, we moved the testing indoors into the church entryway, accessible from the Common.  A tent was also erected outdoors on the lawn to make testing accessible to any who have difficulty climbing the steps into the church.  Eighty-two tests were completed on Tuesday.

Testing will continue on Testing Tuesdays, with appointments between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm for at least a few more weeks.

Required pre-registration for May 5 and beyond is at: bedfordresearch.org/first-parish. Registration will close at noon on Monday each week,  or when capacity is reached. Thereafter the same link may be used to register for May 12.

Those who register receive a follow-up email with an appointment time and number.
