ACTIVE CASES

As of today, April 13, 2020, there have been a total of fifty-six (56) positive cases of COVID-19 in Bedford and one (1) death reported to the Town of Bedford Board of Health by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH). The total case number includes residents of the Town of Bedford, Hanscom Air Force Base and the Bedford Veteran’s Administration (VA) Campus as reported to us by the MA DPH.

Ten (10) of the total Bedford cases have already recovered and have come off of isolation and there is currently zero (0) known Person Under Investigation. There are other individuals impacted by COVID-19 in the community that have not sought medical attention, and/or have not been tested and are isolating at home regardless. Those individuals do not appear on the surveillance reports the Town receives from the MA DPH.

The Board of Health continues to do the appropriate follow-up and outreach to those residents and close contacts known to us and the VA is conducting follow-up and contact tracing of the Veterans under their care. Many of the identified close contacts of some of the Bedford cases never exhibited symptoms, have completed their required quarantine period and have been released from quarantine by the Board of Health.

WEATHER-RELATED POWER OUTAGES ON MONDAY, APRIL 13, 2020

Although there are no major updates today on COVID-19, we are having some really stormy weather. As of 3:00 PM today, per Eversource, 132 Bedford residents are currently without power, or 2.11% of the Town. The weather is likely to get worse as the day goes progresses. Please note, public safety crews and Eversource representatives will be unable to fix downed power lines, or close-off roads, if the winds exceed 70 miles per hour. When winds exceed 70 miles per hour, it is no longer safe to have crews in a bucket truck, or out on the street.

Right now, wires are down and roads closed at the following:

  • Hillside Avenue at The Great Road
  • Meadowbrook Road at Earl Road
  • Dudley Road
  • Lane Avenue

Please follow Town social media for more updates on weather, and COVID-19.

Stay healthy!…(and wash your hands as often as possible.)
