Bedford Recognized for its Community Choice Aggregation Program

December 5, 2019
Bedford’s Facilities Director Taissir Alani recently accepted an Energy Leadership Award presented by the Green Energy Consumers Alliance.

On November 19th, the Town of Bedford was given an Energy Leadership Award by the Green Energy Consumers Alliance (formerly known as Mass Energy) for its Community Choice Electricity Aggregation program.

Through this program, the Alliance is working with Good Energy and the town of Bedford to offer electricity customers more affordable, renewable, and regionally generated electrical energy than currently provided by Eversource. Taissir Alani, Bedford’s Director of Facilities, accepted the award on behalf of the town.

In addition to Bedford, the town of Rockland and the city of Medford were similarly recognized.  Jet-Set Offset, a locally based carbon offset company also received recognition for its work to make air travel more sustainable through carbon offset options and other innovative programs.

The featured speaker for this annual fall meeting of the Alliance was Kelsey Wirth, co-founder of Mothers Out Front and recent McNulty Prize Laureate.

Taissir Alani, Sue Swanson, State Senator Michael J. Barrett, Erin Dorr, and Rebecca Pomerantz. Barrett attended to support both Bedford’s and the Alliance’s work to promote local, renewable and sustainable energy.
