November 29, 2019

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is preparing for its annual Advent Fair, to be held this year on Saturday, December 7, from 9 am to 2 pm. The Fair features gifts, crafts, food, and holiday cheer for all ages, with all proceeds benefitting the work and ministries of the church.

A highlight of the Advent Fair is always the gorgeous gift baskets, prepared by parish volunteers and suitable for every occasion, budget, and recipient, from family members to office pals to your favorite bus driver. This year’s basket themes include Italian favorites, the New England Patriots, spa day, and more.

The Fair also features multiple tables of handmade crafts, lovingly constructed, sewed, painted, or assembled by volunteers throughout the year. St. Paul’s resident glassblower, Matthew McDonald, will again be on hand to demonstrate his technique and create ornaments and keepsakes for purchase.

Food is always a popular item at the Advent Fair. The Country Kitchen features soups-to-go, marinara sauce, breads, and cakes, and the Cookie Walk offers delicious holiday cookies in dozens of varieties. The Cheese Table will include manchego, nutty Swiss, and several varieties of Vermont cheddar. Jan Blake’s famous baked beans and several specialty dips will also be for sale.

The Silent Auction this year features one-of-a-kind artwork, restaurant gift certificates, theatre tickets, and more.

This year’s Raffle items are two tickets to Diane Paulus’s reimagined production of 1776, coming to the American Repertory this spring (and nearly sold out already!), and a brand-new Nintendo Switch Lite, perfect for traveling.

The Outreach committee table will feature hammered metal art from artisans in Haiti, to benefit the parish’s mission partners in Leogane; cards from Heifer International; and hammer and ladder lapel pins to support the high school youth group’s summer mission trip with Appalachia Service Project.

The Fair features three rooms of children’s activities, where kids can entertain themselves while you shop. The snack bar serves breakfast and lunch items, and the white elephant room holds all kinds of hidden treasures, from holiday décor to household items.
