One Suspect Arrested but Second Suspect Fled in Sunday Evening Car Stop

According to a Bedford Police Department Tweet on Sunday evening, the department had one suspect in custody after a car stop, while a second suspect fled the scene. Officers were looking for a male suspect in his early 20’s, wearing a gray shirt, black pants, and black sneakers.

Residents in the immediate area received a localized Code Red Robocall, and multiple searches were conducted. Bedford police and officers from  Danvers, Belmont, Billerica, Lexington and State Police used thermal imaging and K9s, but with negative results.  The Bedford Police are grateful for Mutual Aid support from these departments.

After the active search was called off, the police monitored the neighborhood through the night, with additional patrols in the area. Although the search was suspended, the incident has become an active investigation.

The suspect taken into custody was scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on Monday, September 9.
