July 11 Deadline for Public Comments on Massport Environmental Status and Planning Report for Hanscom Field

Compiled by The Bedford Citizen

Public comments and questions about Massport’s recently released 2017 Environmental Status and Planning Report (ESPR) are due at the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) Office by this Thursday, July 11. All comments received by the deadline will be provided to the Secretary for review and included in the public record for the project.

In spite of its 2017 title date, this document was just released in mid-May this year and is the most up-to-date comprehensive report on environmental issues relating to Massport operations at Hanscom Field that have current or potential impact for residents of Bedford, Lexington, Concord, and Lincoln.

The report reviews the state of Hanscom Field between 2012 and 2019 and also predicts environmental impacts of airport operations and future construction projects on surrounding communities out to the year 2035.

The full document and all appendices can be viewed online at https://www.massport.com/massport/about-massport/project-environmental-filings/hanscom-field/.  Paperbound copies of the 560-page report have been placed in the Bedford, Lexington, Concord, and Lincoln public libraries.
