The Navy will hold a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Bedford Town Center Building.  The meeting is open to the public.

The meeting will include a presentation and informational displays specific to the ongoing environmental cleanup activities for the Environmental Restoration sites at former NWIRP Bedford consisting of Site 3 (Chlorinated Solvent Groundwater Plume), the Southern Flight Test Area, and Site 4 (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes Groundwater Plume).

The environmental cleanups at former NWIRP Bedford are being conducted under the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, also known as “Superfund”.  The meeting will include a summary of the current status of the second five-year review evaluation of completed and ongoing remedial actions implemented at the environmental restoration sites.  Navy and CERCLA guidelines call for this Environmental Restoration Program review every five years to make sure the remedies continue to be protective of human health and the environment.  Representatives from the U.S. Navy, USEPA, and MassDEP will be available to answer questions at the meeting.
