By The Friends of Fawn Lake

Anyone who has started a grassroots effort knows the long road that is facing them in terms of turning a vision into a reality. Members of the Friends of Fawn Lake and the Fawn Lake Committee are so proud and excited to know that the end is in sight and that the vision to save Fawn Lake will be a reality sooner than later!
The vote to dredge the lake and ‘get the muck out’, as well as to construct a proper dam, passed nearly unanimously at Town Meeting. If you were present and listened closely, I’m sure you could hear our collective hearts beating a little louder than most as we listened to Bill Simon’s presentation, heard questions from townspeople, and then held our breath when it came time to take a vote. The collective sigh of relief and the joy we all felt knowing that Fawn Lake would be saved brought tears to many of our eyes. This project has been such a labor of love and is proof positive that ordinary citizens can come together for a common goal and make a real difference. Our amazing little town and all the various departments within it took an interest in our quest, guided and aided us, asked the tough questions then helped us bring our goal of saving the lake to Town Meeting.
We will provide as much information as possible about the project on our Facebook page, Fawn Lake Bedford Springs, and in The Bedford Citizen. Feel free to post questions, concerns, suggestions, photos, and updates of your own on the Facebook page because it is a community resource. There is also a board in the lake parking lot where we will post updates as well.
Again, thanks to all who have helped us on this journey! We are anxious and excited to get the project out to bid and Save Fawn Lake.
