The Spring 2019 brochure highlighting the Recreation Department’s offerings for spring, 2019, available on the Town’s website – Click this link— is 56 pages, filled to the brim with activities and opportunities.

Online registration for adult programs begins at 9 pm on Sunday, March 3. Youth program and spring sports registration begins at 9 pm on Sunday, March 10. Remember that popular programs fill quickly, often within the first few minutes.

The brochure includes much more than program information including the list of summer concerts and the added events that will make each one even more exciting. The concerts are held on Thursdays at the ‘Activity Complex’ along Mudge Way, behind Town Center and across from Bedford High School, beginning on July 11.

A separate brochure is in the works for activities at Springs Brook Park and will be delivered in mid-April. But for everyone craving a day in the sun, the park is scheduled to be open from 10:30 am until 7:30 pm on Tuesdays through Saturday, and from noon to 6 pm on Sundays, from June 19 to August 16. Employment opportunities and Life Guard certification are available.

Among the adult courses is a writing workshop led by local journalist and writing coach Andrea Cleghorn. You could take “Writing Out of the Box” in Ireland this summer, but there’s no travel involved for the 4-week evening course beginning Thursday, April 25. “I give a prompt and everyone writes for 5 or 10 minutes. Then everyone reads aloud. It’s incredible what people come up with — the time limit is a great leveler,” said Cleghorn, who has also coaches memoir writers. “The really cool thing is that we are all storytellers, and here we are friendly listeners for each other, too.

The brochure lists hundreds of offerings for all ages –
