Superintendent Jon Sills has scheduled a one-hour early release for Tuesday, February 12, in anticipation of tomorrow’s snow. Earlier on Monday, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency forwarded a National Weather Service (NWS) Winter Storm Watch for most of the state, forecasting a snow and sleet event that will bring “significant impacts to the Tuesday evening commute,”
Precipitation is expected to begin in Bedford between 2 and 3 pm, with snow possibly falling at 1 inch per hour.. Total accumulation is predicted to be from 4 to 6 inches, with initial snow transitioning to a wintry mix, mostly sleet with some freezing rain.
The NWS notes some uncertainty in the exact timing and outcome of the storm, should the changeover to rain take place sooner than anticipated and depending on how quickly warm air moves in on Tuesday evening into Tuesday night.
