Town Government at Work for the Week of January 21, 2019

Note: Town Hall will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2019, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There will be no trash or recycling collection until Tuesday. If there is plowable snow on the ground by Monday evening or Tuesday morning, please be careful to place your cart and bin where they will be safe from the plows.

On January 21, the Selectmen will meet in Town Hall at 7:00 pm. A prime topic will be the future of Springs Brook Park. The Selectmen had asked for the development of several scenarios and financial impacts of each. The Selectmen will also hear a request to transfer Alcohol Licenses from Comella’ to Poste Bedford, Inc.  The proposed business owner currently has two restaurants in Somerville’s Davis Square, and one in Waltham, Osteria Posto

The School Committee will also meet on Tuesday at 7:30 pm in the Large Instruction Room at Bedford High School. A highlight of their agenda will be a presentation by Mother’s Out Front and a budget discussion.

On Tuesday at Town Hall, the Planning Board is seeking approval of the formation of a house lot at 75 Page Road that is “Believed Not to Require Approval.” The lot would have frontage on Old Billerica Road, but be accessed from Page Road.  At 7:30 pm there is a hearing on three potential by-law amendments to the business districts. The agenda includes a time for discussion of restaurants larger than 5,000 square feet.

On Wednesday, January 22 the Conservation Commission will continue a hearing on the Village at Bedford Woods in the Selectmen’s meeting room at Town Hall (Previously: https://www.bedfordma.gov/sites/bedfordma/files/minutes/concom_minutes_12-12-18.pdf)

The Capital Expenditures Committee will meet in Town Hall at 7 pm on Wednesday to review the Draft Report for 2019 the Annual Town Meeting Warrant

On Thursday, January 24 the Finance Committee will meet in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room at Town Hall to hear budget requests from the Board of Health and the School Department

Also on Thursday, the monthly Hanscom Area Towns Committee (HATS) meeting moves to Lincoln Town Hall at 7:30 pm. The main speaker will be John C. Beatty, Executive Director, Military Asset and Security Strategy Task Force, and residents from all four HATS towns (Bedford, Concord, Lexington, and Lincoln) are cordially invited to attend.
