Curbside collection of Christmas trees will start Tuesday, January 8. Depending what voting precinct you reside in will determine what day your tree will be removed. If you don’t know which precinct you’re in, go to the town’s home page, www.bedfordma.gov, and click on the link titled GIS and Town Maps and scroll down to the link Voting Precinct Map.

The collection schedule is:

  • Tuesday, January 8, Precinct 4
  • Wednesday, January 9, Precinct 3
  • Thursday, January 10, Precinct 2
  • Friday, January 11, Precinct 1.

Before putting the Christmas tree at the curb, residents must remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, plastic bags, and other objects.

“We’re asking for residents’ cooperation to make sure to remove anything from the tree that wasn’t on it when you first brought it in your home, said Ed McGrath, Bedford’s Recycling Coordinator. “Trees in plastic bags will not be removed. And, trees still adorned with ornaments, lights or other decorations will be left at the curb.

The trees will be brought to 108 Carlisle Road where they will be chipped and added to the wood chip pile.

“If your tree isn’t picked up by Friday afternoon, January 11, contact the DPW,” McGrath said. “We’ve scheduled another collection day on Wednesday, January 16.”
