An impressive set of final numbers have been tabulated for the Department of Public Works’ Recycle Day on October 20.

A total of 432 cars delivered 32,312 pounds or 16.1 tons of recyclable material.

According to Recycling Coordinator Ed McGrath, “The big items were 14,328 pounds of electronic waste, 13,800 pounds of shredded paper, and 2,440 pounds of scrap metals.”

Residents also recycled 645 pounds of batteries, and about 500 pounds each of propane tanks and tires.

The next DPW Recycle Day will take place in the spring of 2019.
