Compiled by The Bedford Citizen
In preparation for the 25th anniversary of the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, September 29, haikus submitted by residents are now applied to the trail!
The Haiku-mobile and dedicated volunteers (including Bedford’s Suzy and Dave Enos) used laser cut stencils and chalk paint in blue and white to add the words of wisdom (or humor!) to the trail. This paint will wear away with use and is expected to be gone by the end of winter.
A special Haiku Hangout is planned for Arlington Center. Organizers predict a well-attended event at Arlington’s Uncle Sam Plaza on Saturday, September 29, from 11 to 3, and the community is invited. Visit and learn which poems are stenciled at which locations.
The Community is invited to view the Haiku along the Bikeway (all 28 Bedford Haiku appear between Depot Park and Wiggins Ave!) and enjoy the festivities arrayed in front of Bedford’s Bikeway Source, across South Road from Depot Park. Stop by the Bedford Friends of the Minuteman booth to see a list of the Haiku added to the trail. For more information about the Haiku project, see www.bikewayhaiku.org
