Submitted by the Town of Bedford

On June 19, 2018, the Town of Bedford filed a complaint in federal court against the US General Services Administration for declaratory judgment with a request for injunctive relief seeking to prevent the public auction of the 16 acres of land between Hartwell Road and Hanscom Airfield from proceeding. The property includes a former aviation hangar with small offices that has been vacant for many years.

Bidding under public auction had been scheduled to begin on Monday, June 25, 2018. Before a hearing was scheduled on the Town’ s complaint, the federal government representatives agreed to delay the bidding process until at least August 6, 2018.

The Bedford Selectmen intend to call a Special Town Meeting on July 30, 2018, for the purposes of requesting funding for the purchase of the 16 acre Navy site and to consider the rezoning of this area.

Editor’s Note: The Selectmen’s agenda for Monday, June 25  at 9 pm includes consideration of a Warrant for the proposed July 30 Special Town Meeting
