Trash and Recycling Collection Moves to 6:30 am ~ Beginning Monday, August 7

Submitted by the Department of Public Works

With the numerous road projects going on in Bedford in the next few months, the Department of Public Works is arranging for Republic Services to alter its routes and start in the neighborhoods where repaving and other projects are taking place.

To ensure that their trash and recycling is collected, the DPW requests residents put out their carts and bins by 6:30 a.m. on Mondays.

“The collection time people have been accustomed to will be different over the next few months,” said Ed McGrath, Bedford’s Recycling Coordinator. “Republic has to get to the various neighborhoods before the road crews get started. This will have a ripple effect across town so it is imperative to put out your trash carts and recycling bins by 6:30 Monday morning.”

Residents in the neighborhoods directly affected by the road work should be aware that if their trash cart and recycling bins aren’t out, Republic Services won’t be able to get back to those streets to empty them.

“We want to emphasize that even if there is no road construction in your neighborhood or on your street, it is likely Republic will be at your house at a different time than usual,” McGrath said.
