Dog Park Task Force to Host Public Forum

By Meredith McCulloch

The ad hoc Dog Park Task Force is on a fast track to develop a recommendation for this fall’s Special Town Meeting on November 6. Over the summer they have met to evaluate several potential sites on town-owned property, but have not yet narrowed their options.

To help in their deliberations they will hold a public forum on Thursday, September 14, at 7:30 pm in the multi-purpose room at Town Hall. Interested citizens are invited to attend and to comment on a short list of potential sites.  They will also be conducting a survey that will soon be made available online on the Bedford Citizen website and in print at key points throughout the town.

At their most recent meeting on August 29, the Task Force invited Amy Hamilton, Director of Recreation, and David Manugian, Director of Public Works, to offer advice about several sites under consideration. Manugian offered that once the committee has a short list of two to three sites, Public Works will conduct a careful detailed evaluation of each.
