Human Remains Found Bedford Have Been Identified

Submited by the Office of Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno have confirmed the identity of the deceased male located on May 13, 2017, near the Carlisle Street [sic] Boat Ramp on the Concord River located off Route 225 in Bedford. He has been identified as Richard W. Kandrotas, 79. Mr. Kandrotas is believed to have been homeless and living in Cambridge.

At approximately11:00 a.m. on May 13, police responded to the Carlisle Street [sic] Boat Ramp on the Concord River after a report that a group of Boy Scouts cleaning up trash along the river had observed something suspicious along the embankment. Upon arrival, police located the body.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the body of Mr. Kandrotas came to be in this location sometime after his death. This death is being considered suspicious.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information concerning Mr. Kandrotas is asked to contact State Police at (781) 897-6600 or Bedford Police at (781) 275-1212.

The Office of the Medical  Examiner has jurisdiction over this suspicious death and a ruling on the cause of death is still pending.
