Paul Girouard recently announced his candidacy for State Representative in the 21st Middlesex district (Bedford, Burlington, and Wilmington Pct. 3) as he was surrounded by a large crowd of friends, family, and supporters at a kick-off party in Burlington.

“I am proud to be here with so many supporters tonight.  I am honored to have you as part of my team as I officially kick-off this important campaign.  We need a Representative at the State House who will fight for Bedford, Burlington, and Wilmington.  Having lived here almost all of my life, I care deeply about our communities and their priorities,” said Girouard.  “It would be an honor to be your voice in the House of Representatives.”

State Representative Shaunna O’Connell (R, Taunton) joined Girouard at the event.  She praised him in her speech to the crowd.

“We need more State Representatives in Boston who are willing to take on the status quo that spends and taxes first and asks questions later.  Paul is committed to fighting for the hard working taxpayers.  I know that Paul won’t vote to raise your gas taxes six times.  I know that Paul won’t vote for a job-killing tech tax.  And I know that Paul will stand with me on reforming welfare to stop the abuses plaguing the system,” said O’Connell.

In 2014, Girouard narrowly lost his bid for State Representative, winning in Burlington and Wilmington Pct. 3, and losing only in Bedford. He plans on building upon the strong support he received from voters in 2014.

“My top priorities will be job growth, lowering our tax burden and requiring accountability of our tax dollars.  I will support increasing local aid, but not for cities that declare themselves sanctuary cites for illegal immigrants.  I will work to demand transparency within the legislature, including requiring term limits for the Speaker of the House.  The taxpayers can count on me to work on rolling back the sales tax to 5 percent,” promised Girouard.

About Paul…
Paul Girouard has lived almost his entire life in the town of Burlington Massachusetts.  Having grown up in Burlington and also raised his family here, Paul is deeply connected to the towns of the 21st Middlesex district and the people.  He knows it’s a great place to live and raise a family.   And, Paul wants to keep it that way.

For almost 25 years, Paul has worked in the high tech industry including over 16 years at Nokia in Burlington where he was an IT Specialist, Lab Manager and an IT Site Manager.  He understands the local business climate and what makes companies want to locate to our area.  He understands that imposing burdensome taxes and unnecessary regulations, makes it difficult for all businesses to plan and succeed.

Paul has been civically active in the town of Burlington.  He’s a Burlington Town Meeting member and Chairman of the Burlington Republican Town Committee.  Paul is also a GOAL member and a member of the Woburn Sportsman’s Association in Bedford.

Most importantly, Paul is not a career politician.  As a father of three sons and a devoted husband, he wants to provide the hard working families in this district with a voice of fiscal accountability on Beacon Hill, and an alternative to the one party dominance that has given us out of control spending and unnecessary tax increases.
