Last Saturday, the Boy Scouts of Troop 114 helped the members of the Frank W. Thompson Lodge, A.F. & A.M. (the Masons), set-up and run the 2016 MYCHIP program at the Bedford Fire Department.

The Boy Scouts helped set up the tables, banners, and the computers. And the older scouts helped run the videotaped interviews. The younger scouts demonstrated setting up tents, and lashing sticks to entertain the younger kids who were attending the program.

The MYCHIP program helps parents gather child identification metrics for the parents to keep in case their child gets lost. Each year the Masons run the program to gather height, weight, identifying information, a mouth swab (for DNA), ink-less fingerprints, a dental bite record, and a video recording of the child answering some simple questions. This information is burned onto a DVD for the parents and given to them to store at home.

The program is organized by Gordon Huggins, Lodge Master, and  Hal Sargent, Chairman of the MYCHIP program in Bedford.
