The winner of the annual Bedford Arts and Crafts Society (BACS) scholarship is 2016 Bedford High School graduate Kendall Hiltz. Kendall will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she plans to major in animation. Mary Jane St. Amour presented the scholarship to Kendall at the Citizens Scholarship Foundation awards ceremony on May 25.
The Bedford Arts and Crafts Society will showcase additional examples of Kendall’s work at the BACS Regional Art Show on Bedford Day, September 17, at the Town Center Building. The public is cordially invited to drop by and see them and to take the opportunity to view the entries in this much-anticipated annual show. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite work, and the winner will receive the “People’s Choice” award. Other cash awards will be given. Participating artists can enter up to three works this year.
Proceeds from the Regional Art Show and the BACS craft tables fund each year’s BACS scholarship. Watch for upcoming announcements of this year’s raffle and auction items, which include a one-of-a-kind furnished dollhouse crafted by BACS members, original framed artworks, and handcrafted decorative boxes.
