St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School has some exciting news! After a several month search process, we are delighted to announce that Sharon Healey will become our new director upon the retirement of our current director, Lee Frank later this year. “Mrs. Frank” as she has been known to the over 1,000 children she has helped nurture in her 22 years as a teacher and director at the school, has been a model of warmth and compassion. Board chairperson and school parent, Sarah Scoville noted, “We are so pleased to have found similar qualities and values in our new director, Sharon Healey, to carry on that legacy.”

Sharon Healey has been a preschool teacher for 13 years. She first discovered her vocation to this career when her children were enrolled at St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School, nearly 20 years ago. Participating in the life of St. Paul’s as a parent, she saw the joy that early childhood teachers and young children shared and wanted to experience something similar in her own work. Having worked previously as a high school teacher, she received additional training to become a pre-school teacher (and eventually a director) and began work in the field when her younger child entered first grade.

Healey has been on the staff of Hancock Nursery School in Lexington since September 2003, working as both an assistant and lead educator. She experiences joy on almost every day in her work! In her spare time, she runs, cycles, reads, and spends time with her family, husband, Jack, daughter, Emma, and son, Alex. In addition to being a past parent of the school, Healey also served as a board member from 2004 until 2013. She considers her return to serve as director at St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School as coming full circle, and looks forward to meeting all the new and current families later this spring!

During the interview process, those who spent time with Healey noted how well she understands and shares the values of community life, child-focused development, and learning through play that are hallmarks of St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School. They were also impressed with her ideas about further enhancing the mission of child-centered early education the school has pursued for over 55 years, since our founding. “Sharon’s insight into the social and emotional development of children, combined with a collaborative spirit to work with teachers and parents, make us so excited for the future of the school,” Scoville said.

St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School is a secular, traditional, pre-school that graciously welcomes all children. We offer 5-day, 3-day and 2-day enrollment options in a warm, nurturing and play-based environment, for children ages 2.9 and older. Entering our 56th year of service to the community, St. Paul’s Weekday Nursery School has become a fixture in Bedford and surrounding towns for over half a century, with many children whose parents also attended the school as children.

For information about enrollment in remaining spots for next year, please contact the school at 781-275-1383, or visit our next open house on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. (children welcome!).
