The turnout for today’s town election may not match Super Tuesday’s, but the day’s ambient enthusiasm is far greater.

The ubiquitous election incentives – coffee and donuts for campaign workers and passing voters – were enhanced by fresh flowers, homemade chocolate chip cookies, and a library trustee’s offering of books available for adoption.

Candidates and their siblings were joined by parents, spouses and kids, celebrating the early spring sunshine.

The polls are open at the John Glenn Middle School until 6 pm this evening. After the polls close, Selectman candidate Caroline Fedele and School Committee candidate Mike McAllister are encouraging everyone to stop in to the Red Heat Tavern for a recap of the day, and to celebrate everyone’s election.

While contested elections are exciting, it’s nice to be able to predict that everyone on today’s ballot will be a winner.
