Some up-to-date assurances from the US Postal Service, physical changes at the Bedford Marketplace, and Cafe Luigi checked in via their Facebook page.
Bedford Post Office
Employees of the Bedford Post Office continue to work from the trailer where the post boxes are located and the temporary retail services building.
Mark Howell, the Post Office Operations Manager who covers the area that includes Bedford, said on Monday, “As we work through this transition, with the likelihood of snow in the forecast, we’re taking into account the health and safety of our employees, the safety and comfort of our customers and the security of the mail.
“Everything from transportation, storage, and security of the mail to staffing and ways to minimize wait times in line and customer inconvenience are being discussed daily.
“We thank our employees for their dedication to customer service and our customers for their patience while we’re in this temporary setting.”
Visible changes are taking place at the Bedford Marketplace

Bank of America’s new offices opened on Monday, December 14, and their drive-through window was in service late last week. New parking options are open alongside the bank, and a new exit allows drive-through customers to exit directly onto Great Road.
The foundation is being poured for Building C – the final structure in the redevelopment, and it appeared that blacktop was being installed in front of Building B – the second structure, perpendicular to The Great Road.

Café Luigi
In a message posted this week on their Facebook page, Café Luigi noted
“To Our Guests: We wanted to take the opportunity to reach out and provide a quick update regarding Cafe Luigi and our next home. We are still working hard towards reopening in the Spring and are confident that we will be able to accomplish this. Of course as the details become concrete and definitive information is ready to share publicly, we will do so through our Facebook page and website. Please continue to check in!
“The Holiday Season was always a very busy and special time at Luigi’s and it is extremely energizing to hear from so many people! Thank you all for reaching out through FB, Twitter and email. Your enthusiasm means a lot to the Luigis’ family and we are looking forward to serving you all again soon.
