Bedford Housing Authority Vacancy – Interim Member to be Appointed on November 17

Town of Bedford New SealDue to a recent resignation, there is a vacancy on the Bedford Housing Authority (BHA) Board of Commissioners. An interim appointment will be made lasting until March, 2015 at a joint meeting of the remaining Commissioners and the Bedford Selectmen on November 17, 2014. In March, 2015, an election for the remaining four years of the vacated term will be conducted. The interim Commissioner may choose to run for election in March, 2015 or retire.

Established by State law, the BHA has five Commissioners serving on its Board, with one Commissioner appointed by the Governor and the remaining four Commissioners elected for five-year terms at March Town elections.  The BHA has a paid Executive Director and other staff, and manages 60 units of elderly housing as well as units of affordable, subsidized rental housing for veterans and families.

Registered voters interested in volunteering are encouraged to attend the November 12, 2014 meeting at Ashby Place in the Community Room at 7:00 p.m. Volunteers must submit a Volunteer Questionnaire to the Town Manager’s Office or by email to [email protected] ; the questionnaire is available at Town Hall, or online at www.bedfordma.gov .

The deadline to return all questionnaires is Monday, November 10, 2014.
