Bedford Housing Authority Vacancy - Interim Member to be Appointed on November 17

Due to a recent resignation, there is a vacancy on the Bedford Housing Authority (BHA) Board of Commissioners. An interim appointment will be made lasting until March, 2015 at a joint meeting of the remaining Commissioners and the Bedford Selectmen on November 17, 2014. In March, 2015, an election for the remaining four years of the vacated term will be conducted. The interim Commissioner may choose to run for election in March, 2015 or retire.

Established by State law, the BHA has five Commissioners serving on its Board, with one Commissioner appointed by the Governor and the remaining four Commissioners elected for five-year terms at March Town elections. The BHA has a paid Executive Director and other staff, and manages 60 units of elderly housing as well as units of affordable, subsidized rental housing for veterans and families.
