Submitted by the Committee to Elect Ken Gordon
The Committee to Elect Ken Gordon invites voters from Bedford and Burlington to help “throw out the first pitch” when State Rep. Gordon opens his campaign for re-election at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 17 in the American Legion Hall, 162 Winn Street, Burlington. There will be free hot dogs (while they last), pop corn, soft drinks and a cash bar available as voters cheer Ken on to victory
Representatives Gordon has accomplished a great deal during the formal session of his first term as state representative for Bedford, Burlington, and Wilmington, and seeks re-election to a second two-year term in November’s general election.
Alone, or together with Senate colleagues, Gordon passed legislation that will:
- Provide permanent funding so Bedford can continue to educate children of Hanscom families;
- Begin to address Burlington’s traffic congestion;
- Reduce waiting times at Lahey Clinic’s emergency room by addressing coverage issues;
- Increase the Minimum Wage in a way that is fair to workers and to small businesses, and then improved it by passing an amendment that was signed into law with bi-partisan support.
He also:
- Reduced the number of homeless families assigned to the Bedford Plaza Hotel from 88 to 24, as promised, and in a way that benefits the families as well as the town;
- Earned the advocacy award from Middlesex 3 Coalition for addressing regional transportation needs; and
- Won the Burlington Cable TV award for community programming for bringing Beacon Hill’s newsmakers to the district.
