Town Caucus Names Nine to Fill Elected Offices; Three Positions still Open

By Meredith McCulloch

TOWN-ELECTIONS-2014On January 7 about fifty citizens braved 13-degree weather and stiff winds to nominate candidates at the Town Caucus in preparation for March 8 Town elections.

Selectman chair William Moonan was elected moderator of the meeting and moved on to call for nominations. Zoe Pierce was nominated for Assessor and in a surprise change of heart, Sandra Hackman, who had announced she would not run again, accepted nomination for a fifth Planning Board term. The seven other nominees are incumbents seeking additional terms.

Three positions have no nominee, leaving one position on the Board of Health, one on the Housing Authority and one on the Library Trustee Board without a caucus nominee. Potential candidates must attend the caucus to be nominated and designated  as Caucus Nominees on the March 8 town election ballot.

The nine 2014 Caucus nominees are: Assessor, Zoe Pierce; Board of Health, Thomas Kinzer III; Library Trustee, Rachel Field; Planning Board, Lisa Mustapich and Sandra Hackman: School Committee, Ann Guay and Ed Pierce; Selectmen, Michael Rosenberg and Mark Siegenthaler.

Residents who wish to run for any of the elected offices may still get their names on the ballot by taking out papers and collecting 50 voter signatures. Papers can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s office by January 16 and must be returned with signatures by January 20.
