The GU11 Bedford United Warriors played in the 32nd Annual Columbus Day Tournament in Natick. The tournament is a 3-day event that brings together more than 300 teams from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The team won three games and made it through the semi-finals, defeating Needham 4-1, Franklin 1-0 and Agawam 3-0 over the past two days. At 8 o’clock on Columbus Day morning the team took on Millis in the semi-finals, winning that game 3-2. In the finals against West Roxbury, Bedford lost 3-2 in a hard-fought battle although the Warriors played valiantly until the last second.
Coaches Caroline Fedele and Michael O’Shaughnessy (and the team members’ parents) are very proud of Mina Bostwick, Angeline Dervisevic, Maya Driscoll, Shayla Fedele, Niamh Heffernan, Sophie Lance, Michaela O’Brien, Grace O’Shaughnessy, Paige Patterson, Lindsay Shamon, Julia Silverstrone, Caitlyn Stephan and Reilly Szymczak.
Proving that getting to the Championships is truly something to celebrate, the team brought home a trophy.
