Why did Bostonians start creating parks? How have our ideas about public spaces changed over time? How do our newest parks balance the challenges of contaminated sites, habitat preservation, botanical interest, and community needs? From Boston to Bedford, join us as Meg Muckenhoupt guides us on a journey through time and place through our “greater green communities” that will appeal to gardening enthusiasts, tree lovers, and history buffs alike.

Meg Muckenhoupt is an expert on Massachusetts landscape history and Greater Boston parks. A talented public speaker, writer and prolific blogger, Meg was awarded a certificate in Field Botany by the New England Wild Flower Society. Her book, Boston Gardens and Green Spaces, is a Boston Globe Local Bestseller. Co-creator of the app, GREEN SPACES: Boston, Meg has appeared on NPR’s Radio Boston, WCVB’s Chronicle and WGBH’s Forum site. Her work has been featured in the Boston Globe, Boston Phoenix and Boston Magazine.

Join us Friday evening, April 26, at 7:30 p. m., in the Town Hall Multipurpose Room for Bedford’s 9th Annual Arbor Day Talk, hosted by Bedford’s Arbor Resource Committee, Department of Public Works and Jenks Nature Trail Working Group.
