At Wednesday’s Energy Task Force meeting, Facilities Director Richard Jones announced that Ruthie Bennett has been hired as a shared, part-time Energy Manager who will spend one day a week here and two days a week in Arlington.

“She just started today,” said Jones, “and we went over priorities. She’s going to focus on occupant behavior [in the town and school buildings] as part of our Energy Plan [to reduce utilities use and costs.]

“We’re also going to be taking a look at alternative energy system like geothermal or refrigerant-based heating and cooling, specifically for the Town Hall now that we have a mechanical, electrical and plumbing project coming up for the building,” Jones continued. “We’ll have her participate in that discussion.

“There’s some energy reporting to the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and the application for the next round of grants from the Green Communities program,” Jones added. “I expect to see some improvement in our energy reduction as a result of her work here.”
